Volunteer at ReTails

Saving animals has never been so much fun!

Every hour of your volunteer time at ReTails allows us to process more donations, stay open more hours, fund the spay/neuter of more cats and dogs, and reduce the number of animals caught in the cycle of needless suffering and death.

How do I sign up to volunteer?

Click here to download a Volunteer Profile Form.

The profile will ask you about your particular interests and skills. It will also ask you for some background information so we can protect our valued volunteers, the shop, and the mission.

You can mail, e-mail, or fax the completed form (that contact information is on the form). The email address is retails@animalkind.org. Then, expect a ReTails representative to contact you within 2 weeks to arrange your first visit.

What do ReTails volunteers do?

ReTails Thrift Shop depends on volunteers for its everyday operations.

Volunteers receive donations, sort and prepare donations for selling, restock merchandise, keep the shop clean, and explain our mission to customers. Other volunteers answer telephone calls, respond to emails, keep records, and provide professional services.

ReTails is a clean, fun and stimulating environment to be in! Our volunteers love animals and want to help end their suffering. They also love seeing (and buying) the interesting treasures that are donated to ReTails by our supporters. We don't handle animals, so no animal experience is needed.

As a new volunteer, you will complete a Volunteer Profile Form, attend an Orientation Tour, and train with other volunteers or staff members.

Shifts are available in the morning, afternoon, and evening-weekdays or weekends. The length and frequency of your shifts depends on your availability.

Read about some of our volunteer opportunities by visiting the AnimalKind listings at VolunteerMatch.

How will my volunteer time make a difference?

100% of profits from ReTails Thrift Shop benefits THE $20 FIX--AnimalKind's targeted spay/neuter financial assistance program that addresses pet overpopulation at its very root.

The volunteer time of just one person (that's you!) working at ReTails even twice a month can prevent the suffering and needless killing of hundreds--even thousands--of cats and dogs.

Yes, we said thousands. Hard to believe? Read on!

While private donors and foundations have been an important source of start-up funds, ReTails Thrift Shop will be the primary funding source allowing THE $20 FIX to continue to increase the number of surgeries funded each year.

THE $20 FIX has funded spay/neuter surgeries for over 4400 cats and dogs of low-income pet owners since May, 2004— preventing the suffering, neglect, and needless killing of literally millions of future offspring.

Hundreds more have already been approved and are awaiting surgery. These are pets that likely would not be altered without the financial assistance of THE $20 FIX.

Thanks to people just like you who volunteer their time at ReTails, we expect to be able to spay/neuter many more.

Join the action at ReTails today-we'd love to have you!
